Tidy Spaces Tips and Tricks for Photo Organization
In this day and age, pictures are our way of remembering moments, updating people on our lives, and even communicating with each other. We no longer only have hard copies of photos, but have them on our phones, computers, or clouds. Because of the plethora of photos that most of us have, it can feel overwhelming and scattered. Having all your photos in an orderly manner is very possible and will make you feel a lot more organized. Whether you are a physical copy photo type of person or like things completely digital, there are tips and tricks to make things simpler and cleaner!
Organize Physical Photos
A hard copy of a picture sometimes just has a different feel. Whether they’re old pictures of family members, or pictures that used to be in frames around your house, they do tend to accumulate and get disorganized. A good way to organize physical photos is in albums, but sometimes that isn’t realistic for many reasons, such as space to store those albums. Instead, group together your physical photos by date or event. After doing this, put them in plastic zip lock bags or tie them together with a rubber band. By doing this, you can easily store your photos in a drawer or container while keeping them organized and compact. Another handy way to store photos is in specialized boxes just for printed photos! These boxes separate the photos by tabs or different compartments to make organizing easy.
Scan Physical Photos
Sometimes things feel more organized when everything is in the same place. If this is the case for you, scanning physical photos so you then have a digital copy is a great way to get everything all together. Even if you like having physical copies, it can be nice to scan them just in case something happens to the picture or for easier finding. There are great companies that will do this process for you; you can just send them all your pictures and they scan them to digital.
Transfer All Digital Photos To The Same Device
In our world today, there is technology all around us. Many of us have different devices which serve different purposes. It can be difficult to find a picture when you have to look on multiple different devices, so just put them all on one! This will also take less storage space on your devices. If you use Apple products, your iCloud makes this easy and automatic. As long as you are logged in to your account on all devices, they will transfer immediately. If you aren’t working with all Apple products, transferring pictures from a phone to computer can easily be done by using a phone cord or softwares like Google Drive and One Drive which store all your photos online.
Delete Unnecessary Photos
Taking photos has become so simple, we can even take photos of our screens! Being able to capture things so easily can make life a lot more efficient. However, when old screenshots and duplicates of photos are taking over your camera roll, it starts to become messy. Dedicate some time every week or month to deleting all your unnecessary photos to clear up some space.
Make Organized Files or Albums
Lastly, if you’re an all digital type of person, you know how overloaded your devices can get with pictures. Sometimes you simply just want to show a friend a specific memory and you have to scroll through thousands of photos just to get to it. By creating albums of certain events or photo topics on your phone, every photo will have it’s place for easier access, and same for files on the computer. Sharing digital photo albums with loved ones is also a great way to share memories without having to send all the photos.
Pictures mean a lot to most of us, they represent and remind us of specific moments in our lives that we can’t always relive. Since they can be so important, they should be kept safe and tidy. If you struggle with facing your photos, the Tidy Spaces team is here to help!
