Happy Spring Cleaning Month from the Tidy Spaces Team!
It’s an organizer’s favorite time of year. It’s an excuse to declutter and reorganize. It’s a season of refreshing your space and making it new again. Have you guessed it yet? It’s spring cleaning season! Spring cleaning is essential to partake in for so many reasons. It helps you transition your home, mindset, and lifestyle into a new and fresh season. The season of spring (hopefully) brings some sunshine and warmer weather into your life which means goodbye winter clothes and hello to dust bunnies! Here are some of our most favorite tips to do spring cleaning the right and efficient way!
Put away all winter clothing.
Winter clothing such as boots, coats, and outerwear tend to be so bulky and consume so much of your closet space. Once the weather in your area says it’s time, put all your winter gear in storage to make space for your warmer weather clothing. If you leave your winter clothes mixed in with your other clothes, chances are, your closet is going to be full and a pain to sort through. Make things easy on yourself and reorganize your closet with the seasons.
Organize your pantry and refrigerator.
Every couple of months, it’s not a bad idea to go through your pantry and refrigerator. We all have stuff that has expired that should and can be thrown out. Food storage is also an area of our living spaces that tend to get disorganized extremely fast. Take some time to sort through your food and get rid of stuff that is just taking up space. If you have canned goods or non-perishables that you aren’t going to use, donate them to a local food bank. When putting items back in the pantry and fridge, reorganize them into clear bins to ensure that they stay organized.
Prepare your garage for newfound activities.
One of the great things about entering the spring season is being able to spend more time outside. The weather starts to clear up and become more suitable for many outdoor activities. Winter is wonderful in so many ways but there is no denying that it makes you miss that sunshine on your skin. Reorganize and tidy up your garage so you’re ready for any spontaneous bike ride or picnic!
Do a deep clean.
While things are freshly organized and tidy, take advantage and do a deep house clean. Cleaning all the areas of your space at once can be extremely exhausting. Assign days to each area of your home and clean within increments. For example, after you empty out your fridge and pantry, wipe everything down. Then the next day, when you’re working on moving that winter clothing, dust and sanitize your closet.
Lighten up your space.
Natural light can do a lot for not only our living space, but for our mental health as well. Spring brings more sunshine and more beautiful plants and flowers. Clean your windows and blinds and let that natural light in. To add a little touch of extra happiness, invest in some indoor plants or flowers to finish off your newly cleaned and refreshed space.
Revive your space this spring and give it the love that it deserves so that it can love you back. Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a daunting task this year. The Tidy Spaces team is here to help with any of your organizing needs. Let’s spring into spring together!
